Library Thing

I've been through full immersion on these book/reading tracking apps from Goodreads, to Storygraph, to Hardcover. etc.

Cover of "We" by Yevgeny Zamyatin, featuring a minimalist design with bold typography and a stark color palette. A large eyeball dominates the cover as it stares directly down on a cityscape.

We

Finished this very early this morning, completing my dystopian trifecta (We, Brave New World, and 1984.)

Israel bombs desalinization plants. Water that is meant for civilians. The US cuts off energy to Cuba so it's citizens will suffer. The cruelty is inhumane.

No. The cruelty is profoundly human. That's it. No other creatures on this planet would behave this way.

The New York Times - Curtis Yarvin Says Democracy is Done⤴︎

I remember having this argument with people online when I was back in New York. The old, “We need to run this country like a corporation!” So simplistic, and even more importantly, very cynical.

I would often respond by asking, “In this scenario, who are the shareholders and who are the customers?” You don’t have to follow this metaphor for very long before you realize how problematic it is.

Right off the bat, you see Yarvin’s inability to make a distinction between Trump and a quality leader. And with Vance, he gets a pass because both he and Roosevelt were from the educated class?

There will never be a time when I trust the billionaire class to sort themselves out and produce effective leaders. Never.
