Library Thing

LibraryThing 20 Years logo with text: "A Home For Your Books" and a description of LibraryThing as a free, library-quality catalog for tracking reading progress or a whole library.

I've been through full immersion on these books/reading tracking apps from Goodreads, to Storygraph, to Hardcover. etc. The real treats have been some of the smaller projects like this unique approach: Bookshelf Town. Really like that one.

In the end I made my own. Everyone can. You can do it with a spreadsheet and escalate from there if you do a little coding.

As far as the well established web-based options, it often turns out that the least slick is actually the best.

Library Thing. It's got everything you need without beating you over the head with metrics, as if reading was a bloodsport. Plus the great name.
Favorite feature. The phone app scans barcodes so you can catalogue most of your physical library very quickly.
