The Electric State

A peanut-shaped vehicle drives on a road under a cloudy sky, passing a giant, rusted robot slumped against tangled metal structures, creating a surreal scene.

The Electric State is a disaster of a film. Uneven shifts between corny, silly, sentimental, and tragic.
It's ridiculous.

I f***ing loved it.

I'll try to keep this line from being a spoiler by not providing the context. One of the villians says, "I finally met someone who is less human than a robot."

There's the tie-in to our current reality. We are being ruled by people who are less human than robots. They are motivated by their basest instincts and they are executing a plan to impose their will using a program with less sophistication than an Intro to Programming YouTube video.

It goes to show that hatred and greed don't need sophisticated, intricate plans to win out, they can use a simple weapon, fear.

And just like in corny, sentimental movies it is going to take individual acts of courage and sacrifice to defeat them.

Also, note the boy genius of the movie is wearing a Jayhawk hoodie near the end, as of course he should. Rock Chalk.
